3D Printing a Collectible Concept for Fashion Brand Astrum Corpus

Client: Nathan Baxter
Brand: Astrum Corpus
Service: High-resolution 3D Printing (Prototyping)

The Brief

Fashion brand founder Nathan Baxter reached out to Protomolecule with a creative challenge: producing early prototypes of a collectible art object called the Star Bolt. The Star Bolt is a small, textured, palm-sized collectible designed to complement the Astrum Corpus clothing line. Inspired by the world of designer collectibles, the piece needed to balance visual impact with tactile quality and detail.

Nathan supplied three STL files and sought guidance on how best to bring the models to life through 3D printing.

Our Solution

After an initial consultation and review of the files, we began producing the prototypes using high-resolution FDM technology. The selected material and print settings were chosen to maintain sharp surface detail and structure—key to testing how the Star Bolt would feel and look in physical form.

All three collectibles were manufactured in-house at our Mansfield studio, carefully finished, and shipped to Manchester ahead of schedule.

Outcome

Nathan received the printed prototypes and was pleased with the detail, turnaround time, and professional support. The project successfully helped validate the concept as part of a broader branding vision, and we look forward to supporting the next stage of Astrum Corpus’ journey.
